Gedmatch DNA onboarding
Follow these steps to connect your DNA results to the research project.
1. Download your raw DNA file
Log in to your DNA testing site (AncestryDNA, 23andMe, MyHeritage, or FamilyTreeDNA) and download your raw DNA data file. Keep it on your computer.
2. Create a Gedmatch account
Go to gedmatch.com and create a free account. Verify your email before uploading.
3. Upload your raw DNA file
In Gedmatch, use the Genesis or classic upload tool, select your testing company, and upload the raw file. Write down the kit number you receive.
4. Join our ancestral groups
Once your kit is processed, use the Gedmatch Ancestry Projects or one-to-many tool to find shared matches. Copy any shared match names and paste them into your research portal.

After uploading, enter your kit number and any groups you joined so we can match you to the right research group.
